Ceratozamia robusta
Not a palm and not a fern, though it gets called both. Ceratozamia robusta is a cycad from the wet forests of southern Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, and it is among the largest in its genus: a stout trunk carrying long arching fronds of broad, flat leaflets that emerge bronze to coppery before hardening to a deep green.
The flush habit is what makes it useful in a landscape. New fronds come all at once in a single burst, stand soft for a week or two, then set hard and hold in good condition for years. That gives you a tropical looking specimen with almost no ongoing grooming.
It prefers filtered light over full exposure. Direct hot sun yellows the fronds and coastal wind shreds them. Give it free draining soil with organic matter through it, water over the warm months, and protection from frost. Growth is counted in fronds per year, so this single 200L plant represents a long time in the pot. Treat it as the centrepiece of a shaded courtyard, not as filler.
