Euonymus Green Rocket
Landscapers reach for Green Rocket when they want a narrow evergreen column that does not need a hedge trimmer every month. It is an upright growing euonymus with small glossy green leaves held densely on stiff vertical stems, so it holds a slim shape naturally and only needs light tipping to stay sharp. That makes it useful in tight side passages, for screening between a fence and a wall, and as a repeated vertical accent either side of an entry.
It clips well and takes to pots, though anything in a container will want more water and feeding than the same plant in the ground.
Euonymus is prone to scale insects, and to powdery mildew where air movement is poor, so space plants properly and check the undersides of leaves now and then. Do not let a potted one dry out completely over summer either, because bare patches inside the column are slow to fill back in. Available in 170mm and 200mm pots for hedge and screening runs.
