Mat Rush - Lomandra Seascape PBR
Put this one where the conditions are ugly. Seascape is a mat rush selection with broad, blue green, gently arching leaves, chosen for coastal exposure and salt laden wind, and it holds that cooler blue tone which sets it apart from the fine bright green of the common Tanika types. Foliage stays on year round and growth is moderate, so a mass planting fills in without becoming a maintenance problem.
It is at its best in the jobs it was bred for: broad mass plantings, batters and embankments where the root system holds soil, kerbside beds, and hard edges around car parks. Full sun to part shade both suit it, and once established it asks for very little water.
Maintenance is once every few years, not every season. Cut the whole clump back hard with a hedge trimmer or brushcutter in late winter so it reshoots evenly, rather than trimming the tips, which leaves every leaf with a blunt cut end. Supplied in 5lt, with flat $99 delivery to QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, ACT and WA on a $399 minimum order.
