Choose the position carefully and leave it there. Tupelos have a coarse, brittle root system and they sulk badly when moved, so the tree that goes in the ground should be the tree that stays.
Autumn is what you are buying. Glossy dark green summer leaves turn through yellow and orange into scarlet and deep crimson, often with several colours on the tree at once, and the colour is more reliable in mild Australian districts than most of the usual autumn imports. Forum is a selected clone, so habit and colour are consistent rather than the lottery you get from seedling stock.
It is one of the few good autumn trees that copes with genuinely wet ground, coming from swamp forest country in eastern North America, although it does not need to be wet. What it does need is soil on the acid side; alkaline or limey ground brings on yellowing between the leaf veins. Slow to start, then steady.

This plant is available in 6 sizes, from 140mm up to 400L, priced from $55.95 to $3309.00 per plant. The size shown is the pot the plant arrives in, which is the rootball, not the height of the plant. The smaller pots hold younger plants that cost less each and establish quickly, which suits hedges, screens and mass planting where the plant count adds up. The larger sizes carry several more years of growth on the farm and give height and presence straight away, which is what you want for a single feature position or a screen that cannot wait.
