Camellia Avalanche
White is the whole idea here. Avalanche is grown in Australia as a white flowered camellia, usually offered as a sasanqua type, and the name points to the way the bush carries bloom in quantity rather than a few show flowers at a time.
White camellia petals mark more easily than coloured ones. Rain spotting turns them translucent brown, and a position catching early morning sun after a frost does the same thing within hours, so give it filtered light or a wall that falls into shade by the afternoon. Part shade and moderate, even watering suit it. The roots are shallow and fibrous, so mulch rather than dig around the base, and keep the mulch off the stem. Spent flowers drop instead of hanging on, which makes it easier to live with over paving. Useful as a clipped screen, a soft informal hedge or a large pot beside an entry. Supplied in 5lt.
