Ti Plant - Cordyline fruticosa Willys Gold (Cordyline terminalis)
Give this one strong, filtered light and it will do what it was selected to do. Willys Gold is a golden variegated form of the tropical ti plant, with gold and lime streaking laid over green on broad strap leaves. In deep shade the gold washes out toward plain green; in unfiltered summer sun the pale tissue scorches and browns. The useful position is bright but sheltered, under an eave, in a shadehouse, or beneath a light canopy.
It sits best against dark foliage. Planted or potted next to black taro, a philodendron or a burgundy cordyline, the gold reads as light rather than as a sick plant.
Feed with a balanced controlled release fertiliser in spring, since heavy nitrogen pushes soft green growth at the expense of the variegation. Frost is the hard limit, so southern gardeners should treat it as an indoor or courtyard plant. We deliver to QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, ACT and WA only, flat $99, minimum order $399.
