Kentia Palm - Howea forsteriana Multi planted
Why does a multi planted Kentia look so much better than a single? Because Howea forsteriana grows one slow, solitary trunk with no branching and no suckering, so a lone plant reads as a thin stick with a few fronds on top. Three or more seedlings grown together in the one pot give you overlapping arching fronds at different heights and the layered look people actually want indoors.
This is a Lord Howe Island palm that evolved under a canopy, which is exactly why it is the most reliable indoor palm in the country. It handles low light, dry conditioned air and general neglect better than nearly anything else, but it is genuinely slow, so a frond that gets damaged stays damaged for a long time. Brown crisp leaflet tips usually point to salts and fluoride in the water or to very dry air, not to thirst. Keep it out of hot direct sun, which bleaches the fronds yellow, and check the undersides for mite in heated rooms. Sizes run from 125mm up to 400 litre courtyard specimens.

The larger sizes carry several more years of growth on the farm and give height and presence straight away, which is what you want for a single feature position or a screen that cannot wait.
