Coast Banksia - Banksia integrifolia Sentinel
Sentinel is the narrow selection of coast banksia, chosen for an upright, columnar habit that suits driveways, side boundaries and verges where the wild form spreads too wide. The leaves give the species away: dark green above, silver-white beneath, so the whole canopy flickers in wind. Lemon to greenish-yellow candles appear mainly through autumn and winter, when little else is feeding honeyeaters and possums.
Of all the banksias, this is the forgiving one. It handles salt-laden wind, thin sandy soil, coastal exposure and east-coast humidity far better than the Western Australian species, and it will sit on clay provided the site drains.
Two things worth knowing. Narrow does not mean small, so allow for a proper tree trunk at the base even though the crown stays tight. And keep high-phosphorus lawn fertiliser away from the root zone.
Stock runs from 250mm and 300mm pots up to 90 litre advanced trees for instant screening.

The size shown is the pot the plant arrives in, which is the rootball, not the height of the plant.
