Purple Coral Pea - Hardenbergia Pink Spray PBR
Give this one wires, a trellis or a rough rock wall and let it do the work. Hardenbergia violacea is normally seen in purple as Happy Wanderer, so a pink flowered selection is a genuinely different look: long sprays of small pea flowers held against narrow, leathery, dark green leaves that stay on all year. Flowering runs through the late winter and early spring gap when very little else is going.
It twines rather than clings, so it needs something to wrap around. Planted with nothing to climb, it will run as a loose, tumbling groundcover over a bank instead, which also works well.
Prune straight after flowering, hard enough to matter. Skip a year or two and you get a woody tangle with all the growth on the outside. Being a legume it fixes its own nitrogen and does not want rich feeding, and it wants free draining soil. Treat it as a fast, generous plant rather than a lifetime one. Supplied in 5lt.
