Crassula Green Pagoda
Unlike the sprawling jade types, Green Pagoda grows upward in tight geometric columns. Triangular leaves stack in four ranks around the stem, packed so closely that the plant reads as a green tower rather than a rosette. It stays small, throws additional columns from the base, and is grown almost entirely for that structure. The flowers are a minor event.
Bright light without harsh reflected heat gives the tightest stacking. In low light the columns stretch, the leaf spacing opens and the whole effect is lost, and a stretched column will not tighten again, so you cut it off and start the shape over from a fresh shoot. Water into the mix rather than over the top, because water sitting between those packed leaves invites rot at the growing point.
It gets confused with Buddha Temple and other stacked Crassula selections sold under overlapping names, so judge it on the plant in front of you. Supplied in 140mm pots, it earns its place where it can be seen close up, in a shallow bowl or on a table.
