Lavender - Fairy Wings Radiance Lavandula pedunculata
Tall flower stems held well clear of the foliage are the giveaway for Lavandula pedunculata, and they are what the Fairy Wings breeding was built around. Each head is topped with long petal-like bracts, the ears people associate with Spanish lavender, and because the stalk beneath is long the flowers wave above the bush instead of sitting down in it. That makes the display read from across a garden and gives you clean stems for cutting.
Flower colour through the Fairy Wings range sits in the mauve to violet band typical of the species, so check the tag image for the exact tone of Radiance rather than assuming it matches its siblings.
By lavender standards this is a warm-climate plant. Pedunculata copes with humidity and mild winters far better than the English types, flowers over a long season from early spring, and asks mainly for full sun and drainage. The fragrance is resinous and camphorous rather than sweet, which surprises people expecting a perfume lavender.
