Mulberry - White Morus spp. White (Morus nigra)
There is real confusion in how mulberries are labelled, and this listing carries a white mulberry name alongside Morus nigra in its botanical field, so treat the fruit colour as the useful description rather than the species tag. White fruited forms ripen to pale cream or blush, taste sweeter and milder than the black kinds, and, importantly for anyone with paving, they do not stain the way black mulberry juice does.
This is a deciduous tree with large, soft, heart shaped leaves, bare through winter and quick to leaf up in spring. Fruit is carried on the current season's growth, which is why hard winter pruning works so well: cut back to a framework each year and you keep a picking sized bush instead of a shade tree. Left unpruned it becomes wide and heavy limbed, and the roots run.
Birds will find it. Plan for netting if you want a share, and keep it well away from a pool, a driveway or a clothes line.
