Lemonicious - Citrus limon
If your garden has run out of room for a full sized lemon tree, Lemonicious is offered as a smaller framed selection of Citrus limon for pots and tight courtyards. Treat it as a lemon first, because the culture is no different from any other.
Citrus are hungry and shallow rooted. They want full sun, sharply drained soil and a bed of their own rather than a hole cut into lawn, where grass roots compete and the mower does the damage. Feed in late winter and again after the main summer flush, and keep mulch back off the trunk. Erratic watering while fruit is sizing is the usual reason young fruit drops.
Two pests decide most outcomes on the east coast. Citrus gall wasp raises woody swellings on young stems through Queensland and New South Wales, and affected wood needs to be pruned out and destroyed before the wasps emerge in spring. Citrus leafminer silvers and curls new growth over summer. Rub off any shoots appearing below the graft union.
