Peach - Trixzie® Pixzee Prunus persica
Genetic dwarf peaches are a different plant to a standard peach worked on a dwarfing rootstock. The dwarfing sits in the tree itself, so the internodes are short, the foliage is dense and close, and the whole thing stays small enough for a large pot or a courtyard while still carrying full sized fruit. Trixzie Pixzee is one of these, a compact yellow-fleshed peach bred for container growing.
Container culture is where most of them fail. Use a large pot from the start, a quality potting mix rather than garden soil, and water consistently through fruit fill, because one dry week at the wrong moment will drop the crop. Feed through the growing season; a tree in a pot has nothing else to draw on.
That dense growth also limits airflow, so thin the fruit and take out crossing shoots to open the canopy. Leaf curl still needs a copper spray at bud swell. Trees like this go out on the same flat $99 freight to QLD, NSW, VIC, SA, ACT and WA, with a $399 minimum order.
