Blue Chalksticks - Senecio Trident Blue PBR
A blue-grey succulent grown almost entirely for foliage colour, this Senecio holds fleshy, wax-coated leaves that read as chalky blue in strong light and flatten to dull green in shade. The wax layer is the plant's own sunscreen and it rubs off under fingers, so handle plants by the pot rather than by the leaves.
Drainage matters far more than watering here. In heavy clay, or in a bed that stays damp through winter, the stems rot at soil level with very little warning, while the same plant will sit happily for months in gritty soil, a rock pocket or a shallow bowl. Snapped pieces strike readily if the cut end is left to callus for a few days first, which makes it easy to fill gaps or thicken a planting.
Two things worth knowing. Many references now file the blue Senecio species under Curio, so labelling varies between nurseries, and like most of the group the sap is not something to plant where stock or grazing pets can reach it.

This plant is available in 2 sizes, from 140mm up to 170mm, priced from $17.95 to $24.95 per plant. The size shown is the pot the plant arrives in, which is the rootball, not the height of the plant.
