Emu Bush - Eremophila Pink Passion
If the rest of a dry garden is grey foliage, gravel and spiky form, a pink flowered emu bush is what supplies the colour. Pink Passion carries tubular flowers in the pink range along its stems through the cooler months and again in flushes afterwards, each one shaped for honeyeaters rather than for bees.
It plants well alongside:
- Westringia and correa, which take the same lean, sharply drained soil
- Kangaroo paw and lomandra for contrast in leaf form
- Grevillea and callistemon where you want a longer nectar season for birds
Give it full sun and free draining ground, and mound the bed if you are on clay. Keep gravel or coarse mulch away from the base of the stem, water at soil level, and avoid rich compost, which produces sappy growth that splits and rots. A light trim after each flowering flush keeps the bush compact. Supplied in 5lt, ready to plant straight out.
