Flax Lily - Dianella Tasma PBR Wyeena
If you have watched a strappy border thin out and go brown through the middle, a well chosen flax lily is usually the fix. Tasma is grown for arching blue green foliage that forms a solid clump, sending up airy sprays of small starry blue violet flowers with yellow anthers, followed by berries in deep blue purple that hold on the plant for weeks. It takes full sun or part shade, gets by on very little water once the roots are down, and grows at a moderate rate, so it fills a bed without swamping its neighbours.
- Do not shear it like a hedge. Cut old leaves out at the base, or lift and divide a tired clump, and it keeps a natural look instead of a butchered one.
- The berries are ornamental only and are not for eating, which is worth knowing on a job with young children around.
Supplied in 140mm for mass planting and 5lt where cover is wanted sooner.
